DRV 8412 C2 Kit - Motor unable to spin

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28035, CONTROLSUITE

Hello,

We bought DRV 8412 C2 EVM kit Rev G. In shipped pen drive there two versions of GUI, GUIv2 and GUIv9 are there. Using this both GUIs i am unable to spin any of the motors. Also all the LEDs are flashing as mentioned in the user guide.  I have followed all the steps and jumper settings mentioned in the quick user guide. Could please help me in this regard?

If I use GUIv2, Fault status is Red (reset fault status didn't work)

If I use GUIv9, DC bus is disable. Grey in color.

Regards,

Thiyaga.

  • Dear Mr. Thiyaga,

    We sincerely apologies for inconvenience.

Looks like TMS320F28035 control card supplied with kit is not flashed proper output file. I would suggest you to re-flash the control card with DRV8412GUIv9.out file. This file should be under GUI folder of USB or you can get the same by downloading control-suite at http://www.ti.com/tool/controlsuite

Depending upon installation directory  of control-suite in your PC, the required file can be found at: \controlSUITE\development_kits\DRV8412-C2-KIT_v131\~GUI

In same folder, there is text document to help you on flashing the control card.

    Best Regards

  • Dear Milan,

when I tried to re-flash the out file, I am unable to connect the target using CCSv4 or CCSv6. I am getting following error while I try to connect target (please find attached file). Also I have verified that all drivers are installed for TMS320F28035 and DRV 8412.

     .

Please help me to reslove this.

    Regards,

    Thiyaga.

  • Dear Thiyaga,

This error usually appears if  switch SW3 on TMS320F28035 control card is in Top (OFF) position. Please check the this setting, if it is TOP position, make it to down (ON) position.

For more details, refer to section 3.3 (controlCARD Settings) of DRV8412-C2_KIT-HW guide. Note that if you get success in flashing the GUI code via JTAG, you may need to make SW3 off agian as explained next section of the guide.

    Best Regards
