I am having a problem while testing PCB with DRV595 device. When the board is tested here is no TEC fitted therefore there is no load on the outputs and a fault signal appears afer a few minutes. As the board is under no load and is not getting hot why does the device give a fault signal.

Is this your PCB or the DRV595EVM?

When the fault occurs do you need to cycle SDZ to restart? This will help narrow the type of fault.

This is our PCB we normally power cycle as cycling the SDZ does not clear the fault.

Hi, Stuart,

What is the PWM freq of operation? MODESEL = GND?, SDZ tied to FAULTZ?

If the SDZ is tied to the FAULTZ pin, the device should attempt to re-start itself after clearing the fault latch. If you look at the PWM outputs on the scope, you should see narrow PWM pulses as the device tries to re-start. Can you capture this on the scope? If it is OC faultz, the time interval should be around 1.2S.

If you remove the caps on the output LC filter, does this issue still happen?
