When the short is detected the device logic will go to a reset state, so the ERR pin and the gates will be low. This also means that the device will not be able to communicate this error over SPI. Instead the MCU should detect that the SPI interface is no longer active and take appropriate action. In this case however, the MCU will not have information on what is causing the SPI error. Only with an external monitor (e.g. MCU ADC channel) can the device determine the cause of the SPI error.

You explained DRV3201 behavior after detection of short to ground, but I want to know how DRV3201 detects short to ground (detect by VCC5, VCC3 voltage or consumption current) and its threshold.
