DRV8313

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8313, DRV8313EVM

Hi,

I tried to rotate a bldc motor, 24V,16 pole, using DRV8313. When i am enabling motor, the motor just jerk and connection status showing red.

If we apply an external force its starts rotating. How can I avoid this problem?

  • Hi Praveena,

Are you using the DRV8313EVM? If so, there is a possibility that a missing wire may be causing the connection status problem. It seems to affect some, but not all users.

Please check the revision of your board. If rev B, we have identified a simple fix.

Connect pins 4 and 5 together on the USB receptacle.  This can be done by creating a solder bridge across the two pins.

For reference, the post identify this issue is: http://e2e.ti.com/support/applications/motor_drivers/f/38/t/375210.aspx

Please let us know if this solves your connection status problem. We are sorry for any trouble this has caused.

  • Hi Rick,

Thanks for your reply. I am using DRV8313EVM, REV.B. I didn't find any communication error between GUI. Also there is no error in connection. Actually this board works fine with my low power motor. Looks like Torque generating is less.  Could you read my issue and give proper solution.

Looking forward to back from you.

  • Hi Praveena,

Thanks for the confirmation. Now that we know the board works with a low power motor, let's determine why the high power motor doesn't work.

Can you provide more details about the motor, (inductance, resistance, back emf constant, etc)? Is there a link to the motor parameters?

What voltage are you running the motor?

What are the settings used for the low power motor and the high power motor at startup?

Any scopes captures of the attempted startup will also help.

    Thanks.
