DRV8301-8302 output current buffer

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8301, CSD18540Q5B

Hello,

I need to parallel mosfets for a 50A contionus output motor driver (12 mosfets total in place of 6). I'm planning to use IRF7749 60V mosfet (Qgate=200nC, Rdson=1.5mOhm) . Swithing frequency will be 20kHz.

Can I use a buffer such as shown below to incrase peak output current of DRV8301 around 5-6A or it's better to use TI's other gate drivers with higher current drive capability?

  • Hi Murat,

Can you clarify your block diagram? Are you planning to place this block between each output of the DRV8301?

Doing this may create problems with the internal monitors of the DRV8301.

Have you looked at the NexFET devices available? Some of them, such as the CSD18540Q5B have much lower QG.

The link to the NexFETs currently available is LINK

  • Yes I was planning to use between each output of the DRV8301. If the internal monitors can create problem maybe it's better to use another mosfet or driver.
