InstaSPIN-FOC for 2-phase Steppers?

Hi all,

I got a short question regarding a 2-phase Steppermotor. The customer wants a FOC-controlled solution with that one but FOC is only meant for 3-phase motors, isn't it?

Hi Stephan,

You are correct. FOC is intended for 3-phase motors. Steppers use different control algorithms.

You may want to ask this question on the InstaSPIN forums. I believe they investigated utilizing InstaSPIN-FOC for bipolar stepper motors but may have ran into some issues.
