DRV8825EVM not working

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8825EVM

Dear Sir ,

I have just started to use the TI make DRV8825EVM and connected to the stepper motor. Using the application program i was able to connect (communicate) and then i configured the settings as per the datasheet (enable=0 , sleep & reset=1 , chopping current =0.5amp) connected the VM to 12Vdc and then when i command from the window  to step the motor. no response and no current is drawn from the power supply. And also one of the observation is the status LED on the board is blinking.

Kindly respond as early as possible.

Thanks

  • Hi Pasha,

I have no problem to run the kit in a fresh install and try.
    Several points:
    1. The Statu D2 will flash even without VM. So make sure VM supply is good. D1 should light.
    2. Connect COMx (usually COM2) via GUI.
    3. Click nSLEEP and nRESET pin in GUI from red to green.
    4. Click Enable motor.
    5. Set Vref
    6. Set speed. Note PPS should not be too high. In full step mode try < 500.
    7. Start Steps.

Please let us know whether your problem solved.

    Best regards,
  • Hi Wilson,

Thanks for Ur reply , Firstly i want to confirm the procedure for installation of the software i.e., we have not recieved any CD with the KIT , hence we downloaded the software from the web. first installed the USB drivers and then run the setup.exe which open the DRV 8824/25 GUI. After this we have connected the KIT to the PC through the USB and selected the connect button for COM4.

The above procedure we followed , looks like the procedure from the manual shows that we have to have the "CPG004_DRV88xxEVM_R1p1.exe" file which we are unable to get.

The D1 is Light and the D2 is flashing even if the VM is connected.

    Kindly guide us thru,

    Thanks & Regards
