DRV8701 Evaluation Module

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8701

Hello,

I am a university student who just started using microcontrollers/ motor drivers.

Our team believes that the DRV8701 Evaluation module will be fit for our purposes but we were wondering if it is possible to just control the circuit with a microcontroller that we already have instead of going through the GUI.

Another option would be to purchase the Driver and the MOSFETs separately to make the circuit ourselves and use an existing microcontroller but I am unsure whether this will be an easy process. I've been looking at the technical documents and it doesn't seem too straight forward with my existing knowledge base.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Amy

  • Hi Amy,

First you can do with external MCU controll very easy with the EVM. www.ti.com/.../drv8701evm
You can find all the hardware source files in the EVM page in the "design files" link.

The external control signals can be supplied into the EVM module through the H12 header in the EVM and remember to remove the Rxx which connected to the on board MCU.

    Best regards,
