DRV8701: DRV8791 Evaluation GUI Software won't run

Part Number: DRV8701

Hi,

I have tried some many times on two different computers; both Win7 64bit, but the GUI just won't run; nothing happens when I double check on the execution file.  Is there anything I should install before running the GUI?

Thank you

regards,

Kevin

  • Hello Kevin,

Are you following the DRV8701 User's Guide?  www.ti.com/.../slvuag3.pdf

Section 2.1 explains where to locate the files once downloaded.

This should solve your problem. Please let me know if after following this you run into other problems. Thank you.

  • Hi Luis,

Thank you for the tips, but I have run into two situations when I followed the instructions in the user's manual.

    1. First computer - CCSv6.1.1 already installed.  I downloaded GUI Composer v6.1.1, but it has stopped responding for hours.  I have tried to re-install, but the results are the same; the installation always stops at the same place.

    2. Second Computer - CCS not installed.  The DRV8701EVM software always shows Loading Application and stops

Do you know what else is missing?

    Thank you

    regards,

    Kevin

  • Hello Kevin,

Can you try a newer version of CCS? The latest version is CCSv7.1 Are you downloading from here? Thank you.

  • Hello Kevin,

I have uninstalled GUI composer from my PC and installed again. Please ignore previous post and follow these steps.

    1)  Download GUI Composer Runtime (CCS v6.2.0) from here

I've done this and yes it took some time to finish but it installed correctly.

    2) Copy DRV8701EVM_GUIv1.0 folder to the webapps folder (as per user Guide)

    3) Run DRV8701EVM)GUIv1.0exe file (run as administrator)

    This should work. Thank you.

  • Hi Luis,

With CCSv7 and GUI Composer v6.2.0, DRV8701EVM software can run normally.  Does it mean we have to CCSv6 or CCSv7  installed in order to have DRV8701EVM software run normally?  I thought GUI Composer downloaded from the link was standalone.

    Thank you

    regards,

    Kevin

  • Hello Kevin,

GUI Composer Runtime is a standalone yes. I gave you the CCS link by mistake, I apologize. It might have been the version of the download (v6.2.0). I am glad is it now working correctly for you. Thanks
