DRV110: DRV110 current dropout between peak and hold values

Part Number: DRV110

I am seeing about 30ms of 'off' time between my peak value and my hold value. The drive output (OUT pin) apparently turns off completely why the solenoid current decays, but the solenoid current continues to decay below the hold value and is below the hold set point for ~20ms before the output resumes PWMing and getting the current up to the hold level. It is as if the internal MUX switching between the 2 references has some dead time, or there is a period (20-30ms) where the reference is ~ 0. Because this seems strange, I replaced the IC, but observed the same results.

Yellow is mosfet drain, magenta is coil current ( measured with current probe)
