DRV8711: SDATO Connection with 4x DRV8711

Part Number: DRV8711

Hello,

I am using 4x DRV8711 connected to a single SPI bus to an MCU.  Per typical fashion, the SCS/SDATI/SCLK are operated as push-pull IO's but the SDATO is open-drain which is a bit puzzling to me.

My assumption is that I can connect all four SDATO lines together, and use a single pull-up resistor.  Will this cause any issue?

What is the specific rise/fall times that should be met in order to size this resistor (could be quite a bit of parasitic cap on SDATO)?  How much current can the SDATO pins sink while driving the bus?

Thanks.

  • Hi Kevin,

Yes, you can connect all four SDATO lines together. The current the outputs can sink is 5mA , which is listed in the datasheet.

There is no specific rise fall time. The speed of the SPI may need to be reduced if the SDATO line is too slow.
