DRV8305: DRV8305 about the heat issue

Part Number: DRV8305
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-00901

Hi Team,

The customer is using DRV8305. When he uses a low power motor, the circuit is fine.

Then he changes a high power motor, when he starts the motor, the DRV8305 device starts to heat up. After a few minutes, the nFAULT pin is

always the low level and the DRV8305 device heats very powerful.

Then the customer re-powers up the DRV8305 device, the nFAULT pin is always the low level. So this DRV8305 device cannot to be used.

When the customer changes another DRV8305 device, the circuit is fine, but the DRV8305 device still heats very powerful.

PVDD is 12V. DVDD is 3.3V. AVDD is 5V.  The high power motor is 200W.  The paramters of his mosfet is in the attach.

Q1: For the customer's issue, do you know what is the reason?

Q2: I think this is the load current of the motor  is too high , so DRV8305 is projected. If DRV8305 is projected and the nFAULT pin is always the low level,

how to reset?

Q3: For the customer's mosfet, ID is 40A. Does this mean that the each phase current of the motor should be less than 40A?

If the each phase current of the motor is higher than 40A, will the DRV8305 device be burned ?

Q4: How to confirm the max drive current for the DRV8305?

His schematic is the same as TIDA-00901:
