DRV8320: Questions and availability.

Part Number: DRV8320
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV832X, DRV8323, DRV8301

Hi,

I would like to know how the DRV832x can work without bootstrap capacitors and DRV830x not.

Is it possible to enable 100% duty cycle continuously or only for a short time?

Is it possible to activate the high side with the low side continuously off?

What is the advantages to migrate from DRV830x to DRV832x?

When the DRV8323 will be available?

  Ari.

  • Hi Ari,

The DRV832x has an integrated charge pump to supply the high-side gate voltage, where as the DRV8301 device uses a bootstrap architecture. DRV832x can support 100% duty cycle on the high-side MOSFET without turning on the low-side MOSFET.

DRV832x has several new features, including an integrated charge pump, variable slew rate control (IDRIVE / TDRIVE), three integrated current shunt amplifers, and other improvements over the DRV8301.

The DRV8323 will be available soon on ti.com, the datasheet is currently available at:

  • Thanks Phil.
