DRV110: Could you tell me about "How to use Motor Drivers"

Part Number: DRV110
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV120,

Hi, team.

This is part of circuit of the air circuit breaker as below from customer,

My customer is considering using "DRV110 and DRV120".

When driving with specifications of 380~460V/AC (frequency 50 or 60 Hz)

Is there a track record of using this device in the world market?

(I'm mainly in charge of TI's Power Supply products, that I am sorry if it is ambiguous question. )

Because those who are familiar with applications of air circuit breakers may be better,

Can you tell me?

Best regards,

Masumi Sekiguchi.

  • Hello Masumi,

I'm happy your customer is considering the DRV110 or DRV120.

I have seen the DRV110 used in various switching applications for AC and DC magnetic switches and relays. The DRV110EVM is configured to support evaluation in AC systems up to 240 VAC. Some modifications to this design can support higher voltages.

Here is an application note describing the advantages of the DRV110 in switchgear applications:

Here is a TI Design implementing the DRV110 to drive a 230-VAC solenoid:

  • Hi, James-san.

Thank you very much for the answer.
The document was also concrete and very helpful.

In other words, (I understand that you can't present up to the name of the company, but ...)
that mean that other companies have track record of using this device for air circuit breaker,
    is this OK in recognition?

    Best regards,
    Masumi Sekiguchi
  • Sekiguchi-san,

I can only tell you that this device is used for other switchgear applications. It was originally developed for relays in solar inverters.

I am happy to help you with any technical questions you have for this device. If you send me your system requirements or schematics, I can recommend how to configure it. You can send me more sensitive details in a private message if you want.

    James

  • Thank you very much for your answer.

I will do my best for Design-In.

If you need support of the circuit, we will send you customer circuit information etc.

    Best regards,
    Masumi Sekiguchi
