DRV594: DRV594 input voltage

Hello.

I am using drv594 to drive a 12v/4A peltier for cooling application. I am not cleared about how input voltage is given to drv594.

I am receiving temperature from the thermistor. After measuring the difference between measured temperature and desired temp converting it to analog signal using DAC. I am applying converted signal to drv594 input point. Is it correct to appply dac voltage to drv594?

If this is not correct then how to feed input voltage to driver?

    The following diagram shows a typical application of TEC system.

    DRV594 can provide the functions of 'Control' and 'Power Driver'. There are very deitailed introduction about how the device work on page 10~13 in the datasheet.

    I have user defined temp set point received by microcontroller. I am receiving temperature of peltier from a temperature sensor based on 1 wire protocol.

    Since i do not want to use any extra hardware and do it with MCU, i am thinking of creating the difference of these two temperature and then converting it to analog voltage (Digital to analog conversion) through MCU and send it to peltier driver drv594 dc control voltage pin.

    I want know whether this method will drive the peltier or not. I am new to driver circuits.

    The above mentioned method by you will require alot circuitry and i want to avoid it.

    Please help me to find the correct direction of work.

  • Hi Shaifali,
    The circuit shown above is a typical one and widely used in the market. So you want to use a MCU to receive the signal from temperature sensor and compare it to the reference, then output the result in the digital format. The DAC converts the digital signal to analog signal, and drive the DRV device. I think it looks feasible.
