PMP2214: Regarding TI reference design suggestion

Part Number: PMP2214

Dear All,'

one of my customer looking for below reference designs for Battery tester application, please advise whether we have any close TI power reference designs available or do we have any device which can be used for this application.

1. AC Input 230V , O/p: 6V, 60A

2. 48V DC Input, O/P 6V, 60A

I found PMP2214 design but I understand it is with negative inputvoltage of 48V.

please help to sugest suitable solution.

Rgds,

Aravind.

  • Hi Aravind,

The PMP2214 is design to run from a 48V input, have you seen the usre guide, www.ti.com/.../slyt501.pdf

For 230Vav to 6v, 60A, it may be possible to redesign PMP11303, www.ti.com/.../PMP11303 by changing the turns ratio of the transformer to reduce the secondary side voltage from 24V to 6V.

The design uses SR's which will be required to limit the power dissipation at the higher current levels.

    Dear Peter,
Thanks for clarity. CTM would like to use PMP2214,but O/P voltage requirement is about 6.3V to be precise. I presume this could be achieved with some resistor changes in provided schematics(advice on it). please advise.

    Hi Radha

The resistor divider would have to be changed and the transformer has to be redesigned for the lower output voltage and higher current.

    Peter
