TIDA-00334: Creating PCB

Part Number: TIDA-00334

I want to get a board of the TIDA-00334. You guys said that you don't sell the boards, but provide the gerber files which is awesome. However, I went to the PCB designers I usually go to, but they are having issues understanding the files. Some say they are missing files (ie drill), and some dont understand what the files show. Can you guys either provide the PCBA manufacturer that you use or provide the .sch and .brd files? Thanks!

  • Hi Isaac,

Thank you for your inquiry and I apologize for late response.

Could you try with files inside CAD zip file? It sounds like you have provided the gerber file.

Please try with it and if it's not the one you're looking for, let me know.

    Regards,

    Yuki

  • Hi Yuki,

What I want to be able to do is get a PCB made for this design since you guys don't sell the board. Im looking a the gerber files (files needed to create a PCB), but they are not labeled as to what each file is (ie Top solder mask, bottom silkscreen, top solderpaste, etc). I use 4pcb.com to order boards, but they need me to label what each file is. If you use another manufacturer that knows what the file types are, let me know what they are. If you use Eagle to create the pcb, the .sch and .brd files would be excellent as well. Thanks!

  • Pinging again on this. I want to manufacturer a PCBA with this design, however I do not have all the files to make the PCB. If possible, the .sch and .brd file would work well so I can make the gerbers myself, or all the files you used to manufacturer the sample board and what manufacturer you used for it. Thank you.

  • Hi Issac,
I apologize for a late response.
I can't tell whether an engineer has different format of file on design files. Let me reach out to the engineer who designed this TI Design and see what we can do for you.
    Regards,
    Yuki
  • Hi Yuki
TIDA-00334 is an older design that I did with the bq500212A. A better newer better design is TIDA-00623, based on the bq50002A & bq500511A. The performance is better and thermals will be better. Circuit layout area is about the same.
Unit is shown with a standard coil but the small coil from TIDA-00334 can be used.
  • Hi Bill,

I found out about the TIDA-00623 after posting this, and bought an evaluation board from Digikey that used the same chip sets (TX: www.digikey.com/.../787 (RX: www.digikey.com/.../4764882). I tested these boards and they do what I need them for. Now I'm trying to design a PCB for this to fit in my product, but I have a few questions on both modules:
    1. There are JTAG connectors on both boards, so I am assuming I need to program the IC. Do you have tools to do this so when I get these IC's fresh I will be able to program them to do exactly what the eval boards did.
    2. For the coils, I saw you put a ground pad under the coil for the TX module. Can I just put a layer of plastic or even a thick layer of tape so I can put the coil right on top of the circuitry to reduce the footprint and height of the modules?

Thanks in advance, and can't wait to hear these answers!
  • Hi Isaac
    Regarding your questions:
1.) There are JTAG connectors on both boards, so I am assuming I need to program the IC. ----The IC are programed, the connector is for I2C bus.

2.) For the coils, I saw you put a ground pad under the coil for the TX module. Can I just put a layer of plastic or even a thick layer of tape so I can put the coil right on top of the circuitry to reduce the footprint and height of the modules?---Yes
  • Perfect, thanks for the response! I'll get started on my design and poke here if there are any more issues. Thanks again!

  • do you still need layer info on the 334 PCB
  • Probably layer info on the TIDA-00623 since that's the design I'm most similar to now; like what traces/components do I need to be extra careful about placing, if I need a net-tie of some sort, ext.
  • Hi Bill,

I have a few additional questions on the TI BQ51013BEVM-764 development kit:

    1. In the schematic, if EN1 and EN2 are both low, that means JP4 is pretty much non-existent correct? If so, do I still need the capacitors connected to RECT in that area of the schematic (like to stabilize the signal from the output)?

    2. R4 in the schematic says the value is 110 ohms while in the BOM the value is 75 ohms. Which is the correct value?

    Thanks!

  • Hi all.I have a problem with soldering U5- TLV71733. Footprint much biger than component.
