TIDA-01627: Is the power bank work without MCU

Part Number: TIDA-01627

HI,

If want to set the battery charging voltage and the OTG voltage and current of BQ25703A, I have to write registers through I2C. But from this reference design, I didn't see the MCU part, is that means TPS6598x can control it and write the registers to BQ25703A?

Thank you.

  • Hi Chentsu,

In the TIDA-01627, the TPS65983B is controlling the BQ25703A. However, we do not have support to dynamically change the values written over I2C. You can use the schematic and layout files exactly as they are and the TPS65983B will work. However, if you want to change any of the settings, you must add an MCU.

However, you could replace the TPS65983B with the TPS65987D as the TPS65987D has a configurable I2C master that can be used to configure the BQ25703A.
