TIDA-00961: Vth and ZVS problem

Part Number: TIDA-00961

1. How much is the threshold voltage of the GaN
2. When input voltage > 1/2 VO can ZVS?

3. This design doesn't need air flow?

  • user5820713 hello. Thank you for your interest in Texas Instruments. Your question has been received and we have contacted the design owner for the TIDA-00961 in India such that he can provide you a response. We have received quite a few questions about this design as a result of the TI/Delta Tech Roadshow and we are answering the applicable E2E questions as soon as we can. Please allow us a few business days to provide a complete response.

  • Hi,

The threshold voltage of the LMG3410 GaN module is not a concern as far as usage is concerned. As the driver is internal to the device, the correct drive voltage to ensure safe and reliable switching is provided by it to the GaN HEMT. The GaN device used is a depletion device; the thresold value will be around midway between the gate switching levels of -14V (from the negative supply generator) and 0V.

Yes, the circuit can do ZVS above >1/2Vo. The ZVS detection and optimization algorithm used in the software ensures this.

THe design needs airflow above 800W for reliable operation.
