Project Description

The penetration of the Wind Energy Conversion Systems (WECS) is connected to the advancement of power electronics, which has permitted the development of efficient and low cost WECS in the last decades. A WECS configuration that has great attention is based on a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) and a back to back (B2B) converter, the back to back converter is constituted by a Rotor Side Converter (RSC) and a Grid Side Converter (GSC).

The RSC control is based in the dq reference frame model, which is based in the DFIG model. This model gives the necessary equations to implement the control which is implemented in a TI TMS320F28335 DSP.

The Rotor Side Converter Control is an essential part for a Wind Energy Conversion System, thanks to the TI TMS320F28335 DSP the next features are possible:

  • Access to the Double Fed Induction Generator speed using a rotational encoder witch interface with the TI TMS320F28335 DSP
  • Link between the control variables of the Rotor Side Converter and the PSIM software in real time.
  • Easy control implementation using PSIM software and Code Composer Studio v5 software.
  • Rotor Side Converter control at sub and super synchronous speed of a Double Fed Induction Generator.
