TDA3: About TDA3x EVM VIP connection

Hi, Everyone

I have a question about TDA3x Spectrum Digital EVM.

I see TDA3x/DRA78x/DM50x -15X15 EVM User Guide revision 2.1.
My customer want to use VIP of TDA3x to connect cameras .
TDA3x is connected CPLD.
It means TDA3x(VIP) → CPLD → P4003(expansion connector)

I want to know Camera input should be connected to TDA3x VIP of each pin.
Do you have any document for each pin connected?
Please tell me document number if you know.

I am not quite sure what you are looking for. Did you check the following in the User's Guide?

I do not understand.
It is not described in User's guide Table8.

I want to know TDA3x connection with P4003
Table8 described SoC.
but I think it is CPLD connection.
I want to know TDA3x each pin connection with P4003.

Hi Hiroyasu,

On TDA3x EVM, there are three standard connector available to connect different kind of sensors. These are, LI, OV and Aptina connectors. We could use these connectors to even connect the sensors to the VIP. So are you using one of these connectors?

No, Actually my customer has Camera module for their product.
and They will develop their Camera module for TDA3x EVM connection.
They want to evaluate their camera module with TDA3x.

After evaluate, They will develop ECU with TDA3x.

Now We need to know about TDA3x each pin connection with P4003.

Hi Hiroyasu,

We have tested this connector by connecting mutli-deserializer board. There are four VIP ports connected to this P4003 connector.

You could get the pin level details of VIP and P4003 connection from the EVM schematic. Do you have access to the EVM schematic?

I have schematic of EVM and checked.
but I do not know connection between TDA3x and P4003.
Beacuse it is using CPLD.
We do not know CPLD input of TDA3x each signal to CPLD output of each signal.
Do you know that ?

Hi Hiroyasu,

Actually VIP and Camera inputs are muxed on TDA3x and pin names are for CAM input.
This P4003 connector connects to CPLD via CAM1/2/3/4_D lines. Now CPLD can be configured to connect CAM lines to VIP lines MDB1_VIN1A/B_D lines. These lines are connected to another IO exapander, which connects VIP data lines of the TDA3x to MDB1_VIN1A_D lines.

Hi Hiroyasu,

it looks correct.

Please note that VIP is muxed with the Camera input. So many pins names are for Camera input, but they can be used for VIP also.
Also VIP and Camera input pins are not exactly matching, CAM_D0 may not be used for VIP1a_D0.

Can you make sure thing you said ?

It means we should check function name and Ball name.
because TDA3x is pinmux.

This understanding is correct ?

Hiroyasu Tazawa1 -san,

On top of that, you may even try the TDA3x Pad Configuration Tool (PCT), it represents the data manual pinmuxing basically in a more interactive way, so it's even easier there to spot functions on balls as needed by your application.
