Hi,

evm board version:ASSY 516580 REV H.

VISIONSDK_02_10_00.

SW2[1:16]:10101100 10000101 SW5[1:10]:0100100000

Board modify: follow C:\VISION_SDK_02_10_00_00\ti_components\drivers\starterware_01_06_00_16\docs\StarterWare_UserGuide.pdf 7.2. Board Modification

We follow VisionSDK_UserGuide_TDA2xx.pdf to execute nor boot but fail.We able to load AppImage_LE to nor but not able to boot correctlly.pls see below:

Hi Jer,

To debug this issue you need to follow the below steps:
1. Put the EVM in debug boot mode. Flash the debug SBL NOR image and Application Image on NOR via CCS (use gel to initialize SoC and DDR).
2. Boot the SBL in NOR boot mode
3. Connect A15 using CCS (make sure there is no gel).
4. Change PC to 0x0800_0000.
5. Then step into the code and see where the hang is happening.
I have asked China FAE team to help on this issue. Hopefully they will get back soon.

About steps 3:Connect A15 using CCS (make sure there is no gel).

pls check the picture below and wether is't correct or not.

And then,error occurs when i want to connect to A15 core.Seems not able to connect to a15 when in nor boot mode.

Hi Jer,

There are two ways of removing gel:
1. To remove gel permanently from target configuration you need to delete the contents of initialization script and save it. This essentially means that you will need another target configuration while doing step 1.
2. You can remove gel temporarily. Before connecting right click on Cortex A15_0 and choose "Open GEL Files View" and then choose remove all option.

Can you tell me the SYSBOOT settings when you are not able to connect to A15. Also are you able to connect when the gel files are present and EVM is in NOR boot mode?

Hi Risahbh,

All steps are in nor boot mode,it means SW2 always be setted like:SW2:10101100 10000101

SW5:0100100000.And this time i able to connect to A15 core.

And hang on these three instructions.

Hi Jer,

This looks like some loop.
Can you check what exactly is this code by loading symbols from the SBL out file.

Hi Jer,

You need to load symbols from the elf file you have sent me when the hang occurs (Run -> Load -> Load Symbols -> <SBL_elf_path>). I will not be able to identify where the hang is happening as latest source code is different from the one you are using.

Hi Jer,

I tried the SBL image you had shared over e-mail. It worked fine for me. To debug this further I would suggest you to check on the below:

1. The command used to create SBL image: arm-none-eabi-objcopy.exe --gap-fill=0xff -O binary sbl_nor_a15host_debug.xa15fg sbl.bin

You should flash sbl.bin at 0x0 address.

2. The application image you have flashed on the EVM should be in LE format. I would suggest you to try the pre built multi core mailbox image.

This image is present in: bootloader\prebuild_binaries\application_images\sbl_multicore_mbx\tda2xx\AppImage_LE. The application image should be flashed at 0x80000 address.

Please let me know if the pre built image boots for you.

Hi Jer,

Also I can't find the symbol 0AFFFFFC in the sbl elf file you have shared.
The SBL elf you have shared contains UART code at 0x08002a3c location and looking at the screenshot you have shared it seems that this A15's system config code (cache/MMU?).

Hi Jer,

The prebuilt NOR image will be there in the release itself. Application image is present in: bootloader\prebuild_binaries\application_images\sbl_multicore_mbx\tda2xx\AppImage_LE. SBL image is bootloader\prebuild_binaries\tda2xx_images\nor\sbl_binary.bin.

The SBL image you had shared worked fine on my EVM. Do you have another board where you can try the NOR boot.
