TDA2EVM5777: How to burn the system image into a blank QSPI flash on TDA2X platform?

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know how to burn the system image into a blank flash on TDA2X platform? Except CSS, is there any PC tool supplied by TI for image burning? Thanks a lot!

Hi Waley ,

You can flash qspi using network utility from vision sdk.
You would need to boot up the evm with vision sdk and then use the PC network utility to transfer the images to be flashed to qspi.
Steps are mentioned below

1. Copy Appimage & MLO to SD card
2. Insert SD card to SD card slot in tda2xx-evm
3. Change PIN setting to SD boot mode
4. Connect uart cable to PC & open serial com port
5. Boot tda2xx-evm (logs will be displayed in uart console)
6. IP address will be displayed in uart console
7. Open cmd prompt in PC
8. Use “network_ctrl” tool under vision_sdk/apps/tools/network_tools/bin to flash sbl & Appimage to qspi

network_ctrl --ipaddr <ipaddr> [--port <server port>] --cmd <command string> <command parameters>

network_ctrl.exe --ipaddr <evm ip address> --port 5000 --cmd qspi_wr 0x00 <path to sbl image>

network_ctrl.exe --ipaddr <evm ip address> --port 5000 --cmd qspi_wr 0x80000 <path to Appimage>

Dear Chetan,

Thanks for your reply. But on our board, without sd slot and network port, the qspi flash is only boot device on the board. How can we burn the blank qspi flash to run system.

Do you have uart 3 connected by default . ?

We have utility mflash , it uses uart 3 it is not part of PROCESSOR_SDK_VISION_03_00_00_00.
In PROCESSOR_SDK_VISION_03_01_00_00 its validated with tda3xx .

Dear Chetan，

Yes, it is a custom board with QSPI flash only, and only has camera-in, hdmi-out, i2c port, uart port(test point). As you said, we can use mflash utility to burn image into blank flash via uart 3 port for TDA3XX, how about TDA2XX? Can we use this method to burn blank QSPI flash on TDA2XX soc?

So in the tda2xx evm uart 3 is not connected by default only uart 1 is connected . So you need a board modification on evm . Hence its not planned/tested on tda2xx.

If i am correct evm rom code selects uart 3 for uart boot mode.
Please verify if you can connect to uart 3 on your board.

Yes, we can connect UART3(ball Y1,V2) on our TDA2XX board.
