CCS/TDA2EG: TDA2Ex Leveling procedure

Hi all,

I've been looking for how to do the write leveling procedure for the TDA2Ex and I have found in the datasheet different ways to perfom the mentioned
leveling procedure.
It's been called Full Leveling (1. Write leveling, 2. Read DQS gate training, 3. Read data eye training). Is this Hardware Leveling?
But there is also a Software Leveling. I'm confused with this techniques. Which one do I use?

I have downloaded "8130.DDR3 PHY Calc v10.xlsx" to calculate the necessary values for the GEL file. Is this excel the correct file to compute initial
values for the TDA2Ex processor?
I also have downloaded the file "8863.evmc6657l_ak.gel". Is this file the correct one for TDA2Ex processors? Where can I download the right ones?

Should I follow the same procedure explained in the following link for the TDA2Ex processor?

Is there anything else I need to do to complete the write leveling procedure? Tools that I need (CCS)?

Hello Alex,

Thanks for the link, but it doesn't explains how to perform the Hardware Leveling or any procedure to follow.
Where can I find a step by step guide to achieve the Hardware Leveling?

Hi Javier,

Under the product folder on ti.com, there should be a link for technical documents. As an example for TDA2EG, please see the following link: www.ti.com/.../technicaldocuments

Under the technical documents, there is an application note called "EMIF Tools (Rev. A)". This application note includes an .xls workbook for setting the register values. You can access this application note directly here: www.ti.com/.../litabsmultiplefilelist.tsp

The TI GEL file and u-boot code can be used as an example of how to configure the EMIF / DDR interface and trigger the hardware leveling sequence. In addition, the Technical Reference Manual (TRM) of the device also includes detailed information on how to program the EMIF controller. Please see the section called "EMIF Programming Guide" in the "Memory Subsystem" chapter of the TRM.
