Hello,

the AM335x are advertised for using with realtime industrial ethernet standards like PROFINET, EtherCAT, Powerlink and so on. What third parties will provide firmware for PRUs for using these protocols? Will Profinet IRT Conformance Class C supportable by these AM335x devices? Thanks!

    Hello,

Thanks for your interest in our latest products with integrated multiple industrial communications support. The firmware for the PRUs is provided from TI directly with no additional fee. The stacks for different protocols will come from different 3Ps. We will have EtherCAT/PROFIBUS available this year followed by other stacks in 1H/2012.

So, for EtherCAT, PRU firmware will be from TI and the EtherCAT stack will come from ETG (ETherCAT Technology Group). The EtherCAT stack is available for free for ETG members and membership is also free. To enable our customers to go to market quickly, we also include EtherCAT evaluation license stack in our SDK so you can evaluate the complete application quickly.

Pl see the device comparison at the product folder below.

Pl let us know if you've more questions,

    Thanks and Best Regards,

    Hello Piyush,

Thank you for following this thread. We'r working on the Profinet IRT implementation and that will be available in 4-6 months time frame.

Just like the other protocols we already have, PRU firmware will be from TI and the stacks will be from diff 3Ps. The SDK at the below link has EtherCAT stack implementation. We'll have Profibus, Powerlink in this SDK  by Apri/12. You can use this to get a feel of how SDK is packaged and how easy it's to get started.  As the Profinet IRT dev is in progress, pl contact your local TI sales rep to find out more details about this.

Thanks again for your interest in TI's technologies. Our goal is to make industrial communications easier and more efficient. Pl let us know if you've any Qs.

    Best Regards,

    -Srik

    Dear  Srik Gurrapu:

you have said that there will be profibus provided by TI in April, but I do not find it in the SYSBIOS_Industrial_SDK 01_00_00_03.

    where can i get it?

Does TI provide the PROFIBUS Master? Does it free? How can i get it?

    Best regards

    Hello Wang,

Profibus slave will be available soon on AM335x. There's a delay with the SDK packaging but it should be released in May if not this month. The Profibus stack and SW will be similar to what we already have on AM1810. Pl see the link http://www.ti.com/tool/profibus for more details. The stack is not free and it's from a 3P.

We don't plan to include Profibus Master or any other protocol master yet in the SDK. If there's an interest in this, pl contact your TI sales rep to find out more details on this.

    Thanks,

    -Srik

    Dear Srik Gurrapu:

    As you say that:

We don't plan to include Profibus Master or any other protocol master yet in the SDK. If there's an interest in this, pl contact your TI sales rep to find out more details on this.

However,i  found that  on page 8 of  the document  :   Profibus on AM335x and AM1810 Sitara ARM Microprocessor White Paper ,there is graph  describe that

am3359 evm board support profibus master.

Do you mean  that just  SDK do not support  profibus master.

But if we want  get that function,if we pay TI,then we can get the PROFIBUS MASTER  function code and stack?

    thank you

    wangl
