Beckhoff Slave Stack Code
Where can I find instructions for compiling the full slave stack code for use with the AM335x ICE? My company is a memeber of the ETG and I have the SSC tool...
for support with the SSC tool please ask ETG/Beckhoff.
We usually take the full source from the SSC src folder and do a patch. The patch files and descriptions are included with the SDK. See c:\ti\am335x_sysbios_ind_sdk_126.96.36.199\sdk\protocols\ethercat_slave\ecat_appl\patch\
SDK 188.8.131.52 works with SSC 5.01 sources. Then import the project and build...
Not sure if I have versoin 5.01; the release notes PDF included with the SSC states version 5.0
When I try to run the patch command, I recevie the following error (please see attached image)
Yes, it should say 5.01 in SSC release notes. SSC 5.0 works only with SDK 184.108.40.206.
Try to download the new version from ETG pages.
Will do, thanks.
If I am interested in using the slave stack code generation tool to generate code from scratch, can TI provide the needed settings to do this with CCS 5 and the AM335X target?
in this case you can use the latest version of the SSC tool which should support the TI file additions. There was an issue that we changed some file names and locations which broke the process of creating from scratch using the tool coming with 5.01 (chicken and egg issue!). Ask ETG if that got fixed already.
We are still in discussion with ETG how to fix this long term. Final plan is to have the SSC tool generate good code based on selecting TI AM335x as the HW platform similar to their other supported platforms. This will help to generate quickly customized stack versions. Right now most SSC options will just be controlled through the flags in ecat_def.h.
There is a delay on my end to get the latest SSC code until I have a form signed, so can I download the 03 version of the sdk somwhere to try running patch and building the application?
I found the 03 version online and downloaded. When I tried running the patch, I received the following error:
did you try with a clean version of the SSC sources? I see you patch on the same folder as earlier so there might be two patches applied now.
Otherwise I have no clue.
Thank you, that worked.
As Mr. Walzer already mentioned the EtherCAT related directory structure and file names in the SDK changed from version 220.127.116.11 to 18.104.22.168. For that reason the "TI AM335x Sample" configuration only works with the SDK version 22.214.171.124. Nevertheless I've create an SSC Tool project including the TI source files from SDK 126.96.36.199.To get this project please write an email to email@example.com.
