3Ch PWM and EtherCat on AM335x

Hi,

I'm looking for devices with dual channel ethernet (ideally EtherCat functionality) and 3-Ch PWM output for motor control. Finding out about the AM335x, it seemed like the devices would fit perfectly, however, the EHRPWM1 pins always interfere with either MII0 or MII1. Is this correct or am I missing something? Is there a "work-around" for this?

Hi Patrick,

AM335X EtherCAT Slave is implemented on the PRU_ICSS. You can use the Pinmux tool ( http://www.ti.com/tool/pinmuxtool ) for determining available pins. The AM335X ICE board design files can be used as a reference too ( http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/AM335xBoards#Industrial_Communications_Engine_.28ICE.29_.28AM3359_-_TMDXICE3359.29 )

Also refer to http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/AM335x_EtherCAT_firmware_API_guide#AM335x_SOC_pins_used_for_EtherCAT_functionality - using ICSS internal pinmuxing (option 2) pr1_mii0_rxd0-3 can be made available on lcd_vsync, lcd_hsync, lcd_pclk and lcd_ac_bias_en instead of lcd_data8-11 .

Actually AM335x IDK and ICE v1 uses internal pinmuxing so PWM1 pins shall be available

Newer version AM335x ICE v2 does not use ICSS internal pinmux
