Sitara SDK on BeagleBone Black

Hello there !

So, I've been trying for a few days to setup an environment development using the Sitara SDK 7.0 and following the steps stated here.

However, the "automatic" installer (the setup.sh file) seems to have trouble finding/connecting to my BeagleBone Black. The script is looking for an USB device with the ID 0403:6001. According to lsusb, my BBB's ID is 0525:a4a5. I've thus modified the script accordingly.

The uEnv.txt file can be copied on the boot partition of my SD card, but the script fails to detect my connected BBB. When I try and reboot the card manually, the device is no longer detected by the OS (Ubuntu 14.04) and I cannot get to interact with it in any way.

Any idea on what I could be doing wrong ?

P.S. : I have no idea how important it is, but I have no FTDI cable. I'm just using the mini-USB to USB one.

Hi Cyril,

Please let me know where exactly does the script fail (after you change the BBBlack USB ID)? I assume it is somewhere in the setup-uboot-env.sh script.

The script fails when trying to "detect" the BBBlack in the setup-uboot-env.sh script via the command dmesg | grep FTDI | grep "tty" | tail -1 | grep "attached" | awk '{ print $NF }'.

I guess that's because no FTDI cable is plugged in (pretty obvious when having a second look, but I'm quite a newbie), so I've ordered one yesterday. Should this cable by itself solve my problem ?

That's correct. It seems like the script expects an FTDI serial connection to the board and since the BeagleBone Black doesn't have an on-board FTDI chip, you will have to use an external one with a cable.

I can confirm it works better now that I have the cable. Still got some booting issue, but I'll post that in another thread.
