USB certification for AM335x

Hi,

I have a customer using AM335x, They have the following question:
Does the AM335x have USB certification as the silicon?

It means that "Silicon Building Blocks" of the following page

Thank you in advance.

Best Regards,
Taka

  • Hi Taka,

I will ask somebody from the factory team to confirm this.

  • Hi Biser,

Thank you for your quick reply.
I would like to hear from you.

    Best Regards,

    Taka

  • There is no reason preventing our customers to get USB certification if they are using our AM335x. Usually the boards manufacturers are responsible for the certifications and not the silicon manufacturers.

  • AM335x has not been certified by USB-IF.

We took an AM335x EVM to a USB_IF workshop several years ago with plans to get the silicon certified. While preparing to attend the workshop, USB-IF ask a few questions about our device capabilities so they would know how to schedule AM335x for testing. We explained how the device has two ports than can be configured to operate as USB host, USB peripheral, or USB OTG.  They said they do not test OTG devices at USB-IF sponsored workshops and this testing must be done by a third party test facility. Since our data sheet claims OTG capability, we were allowed to attend and test the other modes for informational purposes only. At the time, we did not have software support for OTG testing so we never sent AM335x to a third party test facility.

This is the first time I'm aware of anyone asking this question so it must not be important for most customers.

    Regards,
    Paul
