about the LCD interface of am3358

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3358

Dear support,

i'm using am3358 in my project now, and could you tell me does the am3358's LCD interface support MCU because i have a LCD who has a MCU interface.

  • Hi,

Can you share what display model are you planning to use? What interface does your LCD's MCU uses for communication with other processors (SPI, I2C, etc..)?

The LCD controller is used for interfacing displays which do not have MCU integrated in them.
If your display have integrated microcontroller (MCU), than you could be able to interface it to Sitara using some of the other AM3358 interfaces like SPI, I2C, etc..

    Best Regards,
    Yordan

  • Hi Jun,

The AM335X LCD controller has the LIDD mode, which can be used for interfacing to Motorola, Hitachi and Intel style displays. Check section 7.10.1 in the AM335X Datasheet Rev. G for timings and section 13 in the AM335X Rev. L for description of LIDD mode. Just be warned that the TI distributed Linux SDK does not provide drivers for this mode of operation.
