AM335x boot rom differences impact LAN8710a vs LAN8720a??

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3356

Hello all

I'm running into a bit of a wall.  We have a custom board using an Am3356, all parts are on the latest die rev.

During development, we had been using a small bed of nails type fixture to provide network/debug capability to the production form factor board.  All was well.  I am able to successfully network boot this setup.  It uses the lan8710A in RMII, with an external 50 MHz.

Fast forward many months, and we are prepping for production.  Our production programming fixtures are using a LAN8720A to provide the PHY.  Same external 50mhz clock, strapped for auto negotiate.

The same network boot procedure no longer works.

I get link lights, but no BOOTP request.  If I place an already programmed board onto the fixture, and interrupt the u-boot process I have live network.  And can initiate a BOOTP style boot from there, everything continues as expected.

It just the initial TI ROM that seems to be silent.  I have the "CCCCCCC" from UART0 as expected.

Any thoughts?

As usual, deadlines are looming ;)
