[AM3352] Can AM3352 use the un-supported NAND device whose device id is D1h?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3352

Dear Sir,

We have a question about AM3352 NAND device support.

We want to use an SLC- NAND device (1GB) whose device id is D1h.

However, the device id D1h is not shown in table 26-14 of AM3352 TRM. We have confirmed the datasheet of the NAND device, therefore the spec of the device is similar to the device whose device id is F1h.

"F1h" is shown in table 26-14.

Is it possible to use the device whose id is D1h?

  • Hi Tanaka-san,

If this NAND is ONFI-compliant it will be recognized by the AM335X ROM code and it can be used for booting. If the device is not  ONFI-compliant and it's not listed in Table 26-14 it will not be recognized. In this case the only possible option for booting from this device will be the NAND I2C boot mode, described on page 4932 of the AM335X TRM Rev. L.

  • Dear Biser-san,

    Thank you for kindly reply.

We understand that AM335X can be booted with the ONFI-compliant device even if the device is not listed in table 26-14.

We will confirm that the NAND device would be compliant to ONFI.

    Best Regards,
