About "PRU Training: Hands-on Labs" , is "JTAG emulator" absolutely necessary?

Hi,

I follow "Hands-on Labs" lab1 to use PRU in BBB .

My Hardware

1. AM3358 Beaglebone Black

2. USB cable connection

I don't have JTAG emulator , on step 7 , the project compile success . Then I copy the "toggle_led.out" to BBB ,execute it ,but not work ? "toggle_led.out" even not a executable file?

I don't know why?

Hi,

In Step 7: LAB 5: RPMsg Communication between ARM and PRU, you should follow the steps described under the "Using the provided Makefile" section. You should also enable the PRU driver in your kernel.
You can toggle the leds using echo commands on the char driver entry in /dev, and NOT directly executing the generated .out file.

LAB5 , It doesn't contains LAB5 in SDK8. I can't find "PRU_RPMsg_Echo_Interrupt1" and "PRU_Halt" . it only contained in SDK7?

I don't understand "on the char driver entry in /dev" ? Do you have examples ?

Hi,

I was referring to the link you pointed in your post: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../PRU_Training:_Hands-on_Labs

Lab1 through Lab3 are only for CCS, the rest of the LAB examples can be performed with CCS or linux host.
