AM335x UART boot

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3358

I am building a custom board almost identical to the beagle bone black rev C. I am at a point where my processor is sending a string of 'C' to UART0 and I am able to send u-boot-spl.bin to the device. I get a transfer successful but I do not get an acknowledge 'C' from the processor. Therefore, I'm not able to send u-boot.img to get to the u-boot prompt. My system does not have the data lines from the TPS65217C connected to i2c0. I know this is an issue, but will that prevent me from booting the system?

Also the way that I boot my system is by applying 5V to SYS of the TPS65217C and then pressing the power button, then I can plug in my usb and remove 5V from SYS of the TPS652176C. I cannot get power by applying the USB alone.
