RTOS/AMIC110: EtherCAT fails

Hi,
I had bought an AMIC110 ICE board. And I installed CCS7.2.0, Processor SDK RTOS for AM335x_v4.1.0, and PRU-ICSS-EtherCAT_Slave_01.00.05.00. I have rebuilt EtherCAT projects successfully, both demo version and full version.
Now I got the results as below:
1. If I run .out file of release version, there is not any LED on, not any print by UART, and TwinCAT could not recognize device.
2. If I run .out file of debug version, UART printed normal, TwinCAT can recognize device as Device 2 (EtherCAT), D2, D3, D4, and D17 on the board are on.However, there is only one LED under DO Outputs in TwinCAT Devices, and I could not control any LED by writeing online.
   The UART print is as below:
   Version - EtherCAT Slave 1.0.5.0
   Board name      : ICE110
   Board Revision : 1.1
   EtherCAT Device
   SYS/BIOS EtherCAT Internal application 3.3.0
   Revision/Type : x0190 Build : x04ec
   Firmware Version : 1.4.236

Could some one give me some advices, please? Thanks.

Hi Carolyn, could you please check CCS project properties in Debug and in Release configuration? They should match, except for optimization level, and maybe (-g) for including debug information. If you find any difference which resolves the issue please let us know.
Another place to check for differences is in CCS configuration files. I see we have amic11x_app.cfg, amic11x_app_debug.cfg, and amic11x_onchip_mem_app.cfg

Hi Carolyn, Are you testing AMIC PRU-ICSS EtherCAT slave DDR-Less mode? If so, after checking Wiki PRU-ICSS EtherCAT I noticed we have and statement for this mode “To build any AMIC11x EtherCAT application in DDRless mode, the AMIC11x_release configuration has to be used”

After checking with a colleague he mentioned the memory map is different between DDR-less(release) mode and (DDR) debug mode. And, for DDR-less (release) version, UART was removed for memory saving, then, it’s expected there is nothing from UART. However, you should see LEDs. If you don't then, maybe the binaries were not flashed correctly.

Hi, Paula,

I noticed the UART section. But LEDs still could not be controlled. And there is only on "LED" showed in my TwinCAT, not form LED1 to LED8 as http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/PRU_ICSS_EtherCAT#Patching_Processor_SDK_for_Thumb_Mode_binaries shows. Is this ok? Thanks.

Hi Carolyn, my apology, I was wrong.. our EtherCAT slave AMIC DDR-Less v1.0.5 (from ti.com) doesn't have LED control added. I have an internal version that has this LED function, so I got confused. In any case, next release will include it.
