    thomas ng thomas ng
With the 3 boards: base, daughter and LCD board stacked up, and with sysboot[4:0] set to 00001b, I could see "CCCC.." appear on my TeraTerm screen when the system is powered up, the system then proceed to boot from SDCard without any problem. But when I removed the daughter board and LCD...

My intention is to download the spl, u-boot, uImage and rootfilesystem images all from the USB0, and flash them to NAND eventually. Because the board that I'm going to design will not have MMC, nor ethernet interfaces. Using UART0 will be too slow for mass production. Do you think this is feasible...

Hi, I try to sort out whether we can use a AM335x in a new design or not. EtherCAT is a possible interface. Therefore I try to figure out which pins I therefore need. Hi Roger, Cyril, Thanks very much for the clear and detail explanation on how usb booting works. I managed to get the RNDIS driver installed on my Windows PC, and assigned a fix IP like 192.168.0.3 to it. Also, the hane DHCP server was setup as per suggested. However, the DHCP server seems...

Yes, I plan to use UART to download SPL, uboot and kernel and flash them to NAND. But for rootfs (> 200MB), using UART transfer will be too slow at production line. And unfortunately my target board will not support Ethernet nor MMC interface, so loading rootfs from there is not possible for my...

Tom Van Braeckel Tom Van Braeckel
Our company received an AM335x EVM board but it refuses to boot from any SD card. Obviously, the board should just boot from the supplied SD cards (Linux and Android) and we can clearly see that it does load and execute the MLO file from it. The SPL then initializes the MMC, which is succesful, but...

I would like to outline that boot-mode DIP switch on AM335x EVM (SW3) is labelled in a the wrong way, that means: SW3[1] = ON ---> SYSBOOT[0] = 0 SW3[1] = OFF ---> SYSBOOT[0] = 1 This is also clarified in U-Boot and StarterWare user guides, which IMHO are not the best places for an EVM...

Hi Michael, I have a question regarding your point number 5: 5. Tool will support MLO, u-boot and uImage. File systems are flashed using u-boot. Does the u-boot download the File systems from USB port before executing the flashing? Or through other means like UART,MMC,Ethernet etc. - Thomas

Hi Vaibhav, Thank you for your quick response, that did help. One more question though, I found out that the J2 pin on the EVM is used for DSP debugging (so we can connect the XDS560 debugger to it by getting one of the adapters). Hi Jon, thanks for your interest in the AM335x family. The $5 pricing is for 100,000 unit quantities of our AM3352 device. This device seems to fit what you are looking for as it has the NEON coprocessor and no 3D graphics support. More information on it can be found here: http://www.ti.com/am3352 ...
