TAS5411-Q1: Questions about status and load diagnostic register (0x02)

Part Number: TAS5411-Q1

Hello,

Questions about status and load diagnostic register (0x02)

In the evaluation environment of TAS 5411 EVM User's Guide page 3,
when I read the value of Status and Load Diagnostic Register (0x02) from EVM, the normal value(80h) is returned.

On the other hand, when I tried in an environment using the evaluation board and our 5V microcomputer, different values of "FFh" is returned.

If you know the reason why the value of "FFh" is returned, please let me know.

Thank you for your help.

  • Hi Orobianco,
We are looking into this and Gregg will get back to you later.
  • Hello Shawn Zheng ,

    Thank you for your consideration.

  • Hi Orobianco,
I see a couple of things and I wonder if you can clear this for me:
On the "NG" graph, it looks like the read has a NACK on the 9th clock cycle. Can you confirm?
Also, how is the ground connected to the EVM and the MCU?
Is there also ground pin close to I2C bus on the MCU connected to ground pin near I2C bus of the TAS5421?
    Is S1 on "OPERATION" position?

    Thank you,
    Tuan

  • Hello Tuan,

    Thank you for your reply.
As for NACK, and GND connection, I confirmed with my customer that it was no problem.

My customer checks whether release control of the Standby terminal is performed correctly from 5 V MCU and whether reading of status and load diagnostic register (0 × 02) is executed after Standby is canceled.

    Best Regards,Orobianco.
  • Hi Orobianco,

I'm checking to see if you have heard back from your customer in regard to the standby pin control.  Just let us know when you have the information.  Thank you.

    Best regards, Tuan

  • Hello Tuan,

    Thank you for your reply.

My customer does not control the Standby terminal from the 5 V MCU in fact. (Planned to be implemented in the future)
However, since it is set from the Standby to the operation, Mute to the unmute on the H / W Switch of the EVM, there seems to be no problem.Currently I am checking with the customer whether the timing of reading 0x02 resister is after the execution time of daiagnostic
    ( Approximately 229 ms).

    Thank you for your help.
    Best Regards,Orobianco
  • Hello Tuan,

    Customer contacted me.
There seems to be a bug in software of 5V MCU on customer side,
    This problem has been resolved.
Thank you very much for your support.

    Thank you for your help.
    Best Regards,Orobianco
