TAS2557: Question of TAS2557 IOVDD Ripple Specification

Part Number: TAS2557

Hi Sirs,

Do we have ripple specification for TAS2557 IOVDD's power supply? Customer found 234mV ripple on 1.8V power rail and need to know if there is any audio performance impact?

TAS2557's datasheet specifies 1.8V+/-0.15V for IOVDD. Can we say that 234mV ripple (1.8V+/-0.117mV) is within TAS2557 specification?

Thank yo and Best regards,

Wayne Chen

  • Hi Wayne,

You can refer to 11.2 Power Supply Sequencing section of amplifier's datasheet to find how the power supplies should be power up and power down to avoid large current in the device due to faults in level shifters and diodes becoming forward biased.

  • Hello Jose,

Thanks a lot. Customer follows up TAS2557 datasheet’s power sequence specification for sure. Would you please advise the VDDIO’s power supply ripple (?mV) requirement as customer’s power supply design guidance?

  • Wayne,

The decoupling capacitors for the power supplies should be placed as close as possible to the VBAT, IOVDD, DVDD, and AVDD pins in order to ensure a right ripple specification for TAS2557. A small decoupling capacitor of 0.1uF and another decoupling capacitor of 10uF should be placed as close as possible to the device's terminals.
