TAS5825M: Can We Bring TAS5825 to Deep Sleep Mode with BCLK Off Automatically

Part Number: TAS5825M

Hi Sirs,

As a following of the thread at

Can we bring the TAS5825 to deep sleep mode instead of sleep mode with BCLK off automatically? With I2C implementation, customers need Codec's EAPD signal to inform EC to bring the TAS5825 to deep sleep and play modes based on I2S clock status.

Would you please advise the differences between sleep mode and deep sleep modes besides power consumption? The DSP remains on in deep sleep mode and sleep mode both. Is there wakeup time impact if customer always brings the TAS5825 to deep sleep mode when mute?

Thank you and Best regards,

Wayne Chen

  • Hi Wayne,
We are looking into this and will get back to you later.

  • Hi Wayne,

You can suggest customer to go into deep sleep mode instead of sleep mode. It takes ~400us for TAS5825 enters from deep sleep mode to sleep mode, hence I don't think delay is a big concern in your application.

In fact, to eneter play mode from deep sleep need to go to sleep mode first.

  • Hello Alix,

Thanks a lot. 400us delay is acceptable. Can we update PPC3 to bring the TAS5825 into deep sleep mode automatically with BCLK, LRCK stopped? Power consumption is critical in moden standby mode for new PCs.

    Thank you and Best regards,

  • Hi Wayne,

In  "Simple Register Tuning" tap of PPC3 GUI, customer can set deep sleep mode in "state control".

As some customers do not know when I2S clocks may stop, they want our amplifier to enter certain mode (Hiz, Sleep, Deep sleep) automatically. On this condition, TAS5825 now supports to enter Hiz automatically rather than deep sleep, which is determined by internal state machine.

Hence, no matter by scripts or ppc3, customer needs to enter deep sleep mode on their own.
