TAS2557: Feed Forward Protection

Part Number: TAS2557

"Feed forward protection is an algorithm that is applied based on the speaker characterization"

Do you means Feed Forward Protection algorithm is using speaker characterization parameters (by design/datasheet) to protect the speaker, instead of characterization parameters obtain via the learning board?

As we noticed when Feed Forward Protection is enabled we could get 2.7W on a 4 ohm load. However, we could only get 0.65W when Feed Forward Protection is disabled. Every setting remain the same exactly the checkbox for "Feed Forward Protection".

When "Feed Forward Protection" is disabled, is the Smart Amp using speaker characterization parameters (by design/datasheet) to protect the speaker, or characterization parameters obtain via the learning board?

  • Hi,

Feed Forward Protection algorithm uses speaker characterization parameters.
Both modes, Feed Forward and Feedback Protection use speaker characterization parameter. The difference is that Feed Forward Protection does not use I/V sense feedback from the speaker in real time.

  • Dear Ivan,

When you mentioned ‘speaker Characterization parameters’, do you means those parameters entered in as speaker model, or those parameters generated from Learning Board, or both?

    Regards
    CK
  • CK,

The parameters entered in speaker model are used along with Learning Board to generate the characterization parameters.
The algorithm uses the latest ones, which are the parameters obtained from the speaker during characterization.
