Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS2557
Hello,
Our customer has just purchased TAS2563EVM (sleu120a with slau800) and ran PPC3.
But attached error message is popped up.
Should we re-order a different version EVM?

Mochizuki

Hi Mochizuki-san,
They should be able to connect the EVM with PPC3 anyways.
Click on OK button from the Warning message, and then click the "Connect" button at the bottom left corner.
This warning might prevent System Checks to complete successfully, but customer should be able to enter "Tuning and Audio Processing" or "Test and Measurement" to initialize the device.

Hello Ivan-san,
We have ignored ID warning message and successfully complete "System checks" function.
Then proceed to "Tuning tab", PPC3 is not finish "Loading-Tuning Mode" as captured image.
"Device control tab" also cannot finish Initializing.
Do you see any operation issue to start Tuning task?
Regards,
Mochizuki
Mochizuki-san,
The "initializing" stuck symptom is often related to a bad/missing Matlab Compiler Runtime installation.
Can you verify if this is installed in your system?
If not, can you download and install it and try again with PPC3?

Hello Ivan-san,
I have got customer's EVM in my hand.
Matlab runtime is installed at C:\Program Files\MATLAB\MATLAB Runtime\v96
On PPC3MB jumpers setting are VCC-I2C=3.3V, VCC-I2S=3.3V, IOVdd=1.8V
On TAS2563EVM removed J1,J4 and J5
1.PPC3 GUI is successfully connected and completed System check with "different version error massage".
Should we re-write "Flash ROM" code or something on the EVM?
2. Then move to characterization panel, there is nothing Button to proceed characterization test.
How can we start characterization?
3. Move to Device control panel, "Initializing" status is not finish forever.
4. Restart PPC GUI and push Tuning and Audio Processing button, again "Loading Tuning mode" status is not finished.
Those are same situation at our customer and my PC.
Is there any missing environment on our Win10 PCs?
Lastly, where can we get TAS2563 speaker tuning tutorial video or manual?
Regards,
Mochizuki
Hi Mochizuki,
Thanks for reaching out to us.
What is the OS version of your laptop? Win7 or Win10? 32bit or 64bit? According to your description of the issues, maybe there's something wrong with your PPC3 GUI or compatibility issue with the laptop OS. Could you please try a different version of PPC3 GUI as below. I am working with this version and everything is normal. Thanks.
Best regards
Peter

Hi Peter,
My PC OS version is Windows 10 pro 64bit, version 1803, build 17134.950
But my PPC3 version is not v3.13 like you, It is v3.1.5.
I am curious, there is no TAS2563 device name at PPC front page.
Should I re-install to v3.1.3 PPC GUI? Where can I download previous version GUI?
Regards,
Mochizuki
Hi Mochizuki,
Could you please try below link to see if you have access to the latest TAS2563 EVM GUI? Also there's some guidance tutorial of TAS2563 PPC3 GUI on this web page for your reference. Thanks.
Besides, we don't have specific tuning guide for TAS2563 but have that for TAS2557, the tuning could be similar since they are both smart amp devices with DSP integrated but have different output power capability due to the maximum boost voltage difference, so another two application notes regarding the EVM and tuning for your reference as below:

Hello Peter,
I still have curiosity. On TAS2563 GUI release note describe as below. Should we prepare LeaningBoard2 together with TAS2563EVM and PPCMB then can we can activate "Characterization panel" in GUI?
Even if we do not have our SPK's characterization data, TAS2563EVM and PPC3MB can be worked without LeaningBoard2?
My PPC3 is the latest release v3.1.5, but your PC and release note specify v3.1.3. Have you verified function of TAS2563EVM GUI on PPC3 v3.1.5.?
Regards,
Mochizuki
Hi Mochizuki,
1. Yes, you are correct. In order to proceed with characterization process you need learning board 2 together with TAS2563EVM and PPC3MB to move forward.
2. Yes, even without characterization of spk, you could use TAS2563EVM and PPC3MB for the tuning of spk and drive the spk to output sound, but since char data is not correct the excursion/temperature protection of the spk won't work properly and there's risk to damage the spk if the PA output power is too high beyond the rated power of spk.
3. Sorry, I didn't verify v3.1.5 but always used v3.1.3 for the tuning of TAS2563 and v3.1.3 worked normally on my laptop which is also Win10, 64bit.
Best regards,
Peter
Hi Mochizuki,
Could you please refer to attached slides to apply for the PPC3 GUI on line from your side? It is the standard procedure to apply for the GUI. Thanks.
Regards,
Mochizuki-san,
Please try with this installer, it should be v3.1.3: https://txn.box.com/s/fggffp8i1hsyn6bykobekq9k9g96n0st

Hello Ivan-san,
I tried PPC3 v3.1.3 but still "Initializing" status at Device control panel or "Install" status at Tuning and Measurement panel were not finish.
Do you think MCR is not correctly installed in our PC?
Here is the location of MCR.
C:\Program Files\MATLAB\MATLAB Runtime\v96
Is there any way to find root cause of this GUI install issue? Can we find expert engineer in our region?
Regards,
Mochziuki
Mochizuki-san,
Please check if your system settings are according to the attached slides for the MCR settings.

Ivan-san,
Thank you for your patience
Finally I could get sound out. My PC's Environment Variables was not same.
Because in our company LAN firewall not allowed to connect MCR installer, then I connected Matlab HP and install MCR separately.
That was issue, now I have used external network and complete all of instration of PPC3 without error message.

Mochizuki
