Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV603
Hi,
DRV632 is a line driver according to datasheet, what is line driver? because it has a charge pump inside? And what is the difference between OPA and line driver?
Thanks.
Best regards
Mason

Hi Mason,
Line Drivers are devices that are purposed to drive a transmission line, like AUX outputs.
Load impedance is usually around 600 ohm to 10-kohm, and its output is rated in Vrms instead of Watts like other amplifiers. If you need higher Vrms you can consider DRV603.
You could consider Line Driver as a kind of OPA, but with a specific purpose.
Charge pump on this device is used to remove the output coupling capacitor. In single-ended output / single supply the output would have a DC offset, so coupling capacitor would be required at the output. DRV632 features a charge pump to generate a negative rail so that the output is centered close to 0V.

Hi Ivan,
Thank you for answering me, i still have 2 question:
1. Why we need Vrms as a rate in line driver, rather than Watts?
2. I know single-ended output / single supply the output would have a DC offset, but how does a coupling capacitor correct it to 0V?
Thanks.
Best regards
