TAS5805M: OC / DC Detect Block for TAS5805M.

Dear Sirs,

My customer asked us about OC / DC Detect Block for TAS5805M.

H Bridge & Gate Driver & OC / DC Protect block is described in 9.2 Functional Block Diagram on page 27 of TAS5805M data sheet.

Please let me know the detailed configuration diagram in this block.

Also, please let me know what happens to the OC / DC Protect block if the H Bridge & Gate Driver breaks inside.

hello Yoshiki,

OC and DC protection circuit are independent design with H Bridge and Gate driver. if gate driver or H bridge have problem, normally there is no output.

OC and DC is triggered by larger output current or DC voltage.

I checked other devices for internal blocks.

I was able to confirm the independent block configuration with TPA3156D2 as shown below.

Other TPA31xxD2 series have the same block configuration. However, it is not known in the TAS5805M data sheet.

Is the internal configuration of OC / DC the same as TPA3156D2 etc.?

Hi Hasebe,

The internal H Bridge and Gate Driver is the same structure between TAS5805M and former generation closed-loop Class-D.

The OC detection is both high/low side FET current of every OUTPUT pin. The Threshold is 5A. The DC protection measures Left/Right channel DC offset output.

In your answers above, “former generation closed-loop Class-D” means TAS57xx series?

If that is the case, I think that it is the same as the following structure of the TAS5731 data sheet.

Is this correct?

Hi Hasebe,

It's hard to define 'same structure'. The Gate drive control logics are different for each project, but the basic control idea and H-bridge classD are almost similar.

It's suggested to focus on detailed customer OC/DC questions.

My customer wants to know the configuration of the internal block of TAS5805M with OC / DC detection function.
I understand that Linda-san responded that it was independent.
However, I can't understand that the TPA series data sheet has a detailed description of the block diagram but not the TAS series.
So I asked you if it was the same as the TAS5731 configuration.
Is the OC / DC DETECT block different from TAS5731?
Please let me know my questions.

Hi Hasebe,

Both TPA and TAS5731 block diagram only shows very simple protection blocks. If you are asking them, TAS5805M is the same OC/DC protection block with TAS5731.
