TPA3116D2: TPA3116D2

Part Number: TPA3116D2

i am using 4 speakers connected in parallel all 4 are 45w and 6ohms so after connecting in parallel they give me 3ohms  i am planing to give 20v 10a power supply is it good? if not what is the best i can use. i have nobsound ns-20g which is 200w with Amplifier chip: American TI Texas Instruments TPA3116 ×2.

Your earliest response in this regard would be highly appreciated

  • Hi Kamran,

I'm a little confused, you said you connected all 4 6ohm speakers in parallel. That should create an impedance of 1.5ohms. Am I misunderstanding how you are designing your system?

  • Robert Clifton thanks for quick response .

As you told now per channel I am Getting 3 ohms.my question is to get 200w out of it what amps, volts  I should give as I told you before I am using nobsound ns-20g amplifier. Which is a 200w aml.

        Regards

  • Hi Kamran,

Let's take a step back and look at the numbers. A 20V 10A supply looks like it would be able to deliver 200W but in reality it can't. The reason is these are the peak voltage and current, we need the rms values to run power calculations.

So looking at 10A peak, to get the rms current you take the peak current/sqrt(2). so 10/sqrt(2) = 7.07Arms. Doing the same with the voltage gives you 14.14Vrms. Multiplying those together gets you 100W! And that's not taking into consideration the load and the limits of the device.

Your system won't be able to produce a 200W output.

    Best Regards,

    Robert Clifton
