TPL5010: relation of DONE and RSTn

Part Number: TPL5010

Hi

I have some question about the relation between DONE and RSTn.

1. During DONE signal is kept high level, RSTn does not change evne if the Tip is exceeded. Is my understanding correct?

2.Above operation does not latched. Is my understanding correct?

(RSTn is returned high after trst every event.)

  • Hello Hamamoto-san,
    about 1.:
    - WAKE signal is periodically sent by TPL5010 to a MCU.
    - DONE signal is the feedback of the MCU that it actually woke up from the WAKE pulse and started operating from standby sleep.
    - TPL5010 detects the rising edge of the DONE signal. Only the first edge, if there were multiple pulses.
    - DONE signal is only limited by tDDONE timing, please refer to figure 1 in electrical spec.

This means as long as first rising of DONE comes latest tip-20msec, RSTn will stay high.

  • Hi Patrick-san,

Our configurations is attached below. Please see the file.
What is the timing we wanted is the blue and orange timing.

Also our customer would like to change the interval timing with I2C. So , we added the potentiometer for the resistor setting.

  • Hello Hamamoto-san,
that is an interesting solution. Thanks for sharing!

  • Hi Patrick-san,

Thank you for your support. As long as you see the above configuration, do you think it is possible to configure with TPL5010 and potentiometer for the required timing?

I have some question about your answer. (>> )

    ---
    - WAKE signal is periodically sent by TPL5010 to a MCU.

    >> Can we leave WAVE pin open?

    - DONE signal is the feedback of the MCU that it actually woke up from the WAKE pulse and started operating from standby sleep.

    >> At our configuration, DONE signal is made by the push button.

    - TPL5010 detects the rising edge of the DONE signal. Only the first edge, if there were multiple pulses.
    - DONE signal is only limited by tDDONE timing, please refer to figure 1 in electrical spec.

    >> As I mentioned above, DONE signal is kept high if the button does not push. If the push button is push at some timing, then RSTn will be high. That is our requirement for this configuration.

  • Hi Hamamoto-san,

TPL5010 was not designed to be used in such an implementation and therefore cannot provide robust timing for your application. I do not recommend to use the TPL5010 to generate the timing in this configuration. I recommend to consider an alternative solution.

    Kind regards,
