LMX2594: LMX2594 OSCIN termination 100 ohm diff or pair of 50 ohms to gnd?

Part Number: LMX2594

Datasheet calls for 50 ohm to gnd from each OSCIN pin. Eval board has 100 ohms across P/N.Differential these are same, but common mode they are different. Which should I use?

  • David,

First realize that there is an AC coupling capacitor between this termination and our device. So this is really your choice. If driving differentially, my personal preference is the 100 ohms across because it is one less component and also does have a path for the OSCin noise to coupe to the ground plane, but I have no data to prove or disprove it makes any difference.
