CDCV304: Discontinuity of output signal

Hi team,

My customer use the CDCV304 in the server system and below is the schematic:

And they find the output of the pin 7 is not continuity and has a small step. The wave is as below:

But the pin 5 don't have the step. See as below:

The pin 5 is connect to BMC and pin 7 is connected to PCH.

So can you help to analyze if the step is caused by the cap load? or some other affect factor?

Any other test can be done for the next step debug?

  • I suspect there is some impedance discontinuity in the 50-ohm trace routing between the driver and receiver that is causing signal reflections and kink on the edge transition. Could they try adjusting the series termination value (currently 33 ohms) to see if they can optimize the signal integrity? Also, do they have sufficient bypass caps very close to the VDD pin of chip?
