CDCE62002: about XTAL / AUX_IN pin

Part Number: CDCE62002
Hello.

I have a question about CDCE62002.

We are planning to use it as a Clock Cleaner as shown in Datasheet P31 Figure.29.
Do I need to enter XTAL / AUX_IN?
If it is not necessary, how can I handle XTAL / AUX_IN_pin?
Is there a problem when I open it?

Thank you.
  • You can leave the XTAL input open/floating if you are an external clock input as the PLL reference.

  • Hello.

    thank you for your answer.

    I made a prototype board.
We will use CDCE 62002 as Clock Cleaner.
The XTAL / AUX_IN pin is considered unnecessary and it is open.
Data Sheet P 21 9.3.5.2 Smart Multiplexer Dividers
In REF select mode, TI recommends connecting AUX_IN to GND with a 1 - k pulldown resistor.
    And there.
When the XTAL / AUX_IN pin is open/floating, what is the problem?
    IC destroy, malfunction. Other
    Thank you.
  • If XTAL / AUX_IN is floating, it is possible that the Smart MUX will select XTAL to source the input divider even though it is not present. Floating the pin does not introduce the risk of destruction.

    Kind regards,
