CDCLVD110A: No LayOut recommendation for PQFP package

Hello,

I need the CDCLVD110A for a new design. There are two optional packages for the device : 1) VQFN 2) PQFP.

Since I prefer the PQFP package option to my design, I Iooked for a PQFP layout recommendation in the datasheet of CDCLVD110A and did not find. In the CDCLVD110A datasheet there is only LayOut recommendation for VQFN.

How can I get the PQFP layout recommendation for that device ?

Hello Ohad,

I'll check to see if we have some recommendation. I do know that many PCB tools have an IPC-7351 type footprint calculator built in which can get you a footprint. Do you have that available to you?

Hi,

No, I do not have. Actually it is a requirement comes from the LayOut engineer who usually gets it for devices he wants to insert into a board layout.

I've been advised we currently do not have a fully drawing with PCB and stencil information, however our team is working to create one. But I don't expect it will be available until next week. But I will post you when it's ready.

What I meant is that I would like to have a Layout recommendation for LQFP package like the one you do have for VQFN package in the datasheet.

When do you think will you have it ?

Hello Ohad,

Yes - this type of recommendation is currently in the que to be worked on or being worked on. From what I understand we could expect a layout recommendation this week.

There is still an issue whith the new footprint - Power Pad is missing.

Hello Ohad,

Note the footprint now appears to be in the datasheet.

My understanding is the VF (LQFN) package does not have a power pad.

According to the description of the the PowerPad in section 5, "The PowerPAD of the VQFN package is thermally connected to the die to improve the heat transfer out of the package. This pad is connected to GND." - I see no note of LQFN having a PowerPad. I'll double check and put a note in to be more explicit that the VF (LQFN) does not have a pad in section 5 if confirmed.

Also, the thermal characteristics seem to back this up. There is no theta-jc (bottom) for VF (LQFN). And its JEDEC standard case theta-ja is much higher than the RHB (VQFN).

But what about the LQFP package that you gave me its footprint ? Sholdn't it have a Power pad ?

Hello Ohad,

The VQFN package has a PowerPad. The LQFP package we updated the datasheet with does not.

I'll submit a clarification request for the PowerPAD line on page 3, Pin Configuration and Functions to indicate that the LQFP package does not have a PowerPAD.
