LMK04100: Audio system clock PLL

Part Number: LMK04100
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK04208

Hello,

Our customer look for Audio system clock PLL.

Input is Audio Word Clock which is 44.1KHz and Outputs are x512=22.579MHz and x1024=45.158MHz.

It seems LMK04100 can accept 0.001MHz input clock. Can we recommend to use this PLL for Audio clock generation?

Do you have any other suitable PLL device to achieve lower Jitter and Phase noise performance?

Regards,

Mochizuki

  • Hello Mochizuki-san,

The LMK04208 may also be a good choice, and is a bit more modern.

I recommend using cascaded PLL mode with an external VCXO for PLL1 operating at either 22.5972 MHz or 45.1584 MHz. This should help increase the phase detector frequency of the frequency multiplier PLL, which will minimize the phase noise. Both LMK04100 and LMK04208 support cascaded PLL mode.

  • Derek,

Thank you very much for your suggestion.

We have introduced LMK04208 to the customer too.

I am waiting their feedback now.
